Glossary

A quick lookup for the terms that show up across the console. Each entry is deliberately terse — follow the link for the full picture.

  • Organisation (tenant) — your whole account, and the hard data-isolation boundary: nothing crosses between organisations. → Projects & access
  • Project — an operational workspace inside your organisation, with its own assets, rules, dashboards, and reports. → Projects & access
  • Scope — the level a role grant applies at: organisation, project, or group. A member’s effective permissions are the union of their grants. → Projects & access
  • Asset group — a node in the region → zone → site tree that organises a project’s assets; status roll-ups and group-scoped rules walk this tree. → Assets & groups
  • Asset class — one of the four kinds an asset can be (water meter, pump station, reservoir, pressure point); it sets the asset’s icon, its metrics, and how rules can target it. → Assets & groups
  • Cadence — how often a sensor is expected to report. The staleness window is a multiple of it (roughly 6×). → Metrics & telemetry
  • Shadow — a sensor’s small live record of its last uplink time and latest signal/battery reading. It starts empty and “comes alive” on the first uplink. → Metrics & telemetry
  • Staleness / stale — the state of a sensor whose last reading is older than its staleness window. Staleness is what turns a quiet sensor offline. → Metrics & telemetry
  • Offline — a sensor that has gone stale (no uplink for its window). Raised automatically as an offline alert — the one alert nobody authors. → Alert rules
  • Primary metric — the headline reading a class of asset leads with: a reservoir → level, a meter → flow. → Metrics & telemetry
  • Diagnostics — battery and signal (RSSI / SNR): metrics about the sensor’s health, never counted as a reading of the water network. → Metric catalogue
  • Action Centre — a global right-side sheet that gathers every active alert across your portfolio, groups them by project and kind with prescriptive guidance, and lets you acknowledge or snooze them in place. Open it with ⌘⇧A or the header’s siren mark. → Act on alerts
  • Debounce — the number of consecutive breaching readings a rule needs before it opens, so a single blip doesn’t page anyone. → Alert rules
  • Hysteresis / clear value — the level a metric must recover past before an alert resolves; it stops an alert flapping around the threshold, and defaults to the trip value. → Alert rules
  • NRW (non-revenue water) — treated water put into supply but never billed: leakage, metering error, and unauthorised use. → Dashboards
  • DMA (district metered area) — a hydraulically discrete zone of the network whose inflow is metered, so its losses can be measured against its consumption. → Dashboards
  • MNF (minimum night flow) — the lowest flow into a zone overnight, when legitimate use is minimal; a rising MNF is a growing leak. → Dashboards
  • Water balance — a zone’s metered inflow compared with the summed consumption of its meters; the gap is loss / NRW. → Dashboards
  • Pressure compliance — how much of the period a pressure point stayed inside its operating band. → Dashboards
